About the ISO/TS16949:2002 Standard

ISO 9001:2000 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to provide products that meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements and aims to enhance customers and other interested parties.

ISO/TS 16949:2002 is a tool to assure the quality of products and services of automotive parts suppliers. Essentially a technical specification, it was created in response to an urgent market need for an international document for the automotive industry.

ISO/TS16949: 2002 includes all of the requirements of ISO 9001:2000.
Together, these two documents define the quality management system for the design and development, production and, when relevant, installation and service of automotive-related products. The technical specification can be applied throughout the automotive supply chain.
